When I was a child there were house hold jobs I hated like after a cow was butchered I usually wind up helping rendering tallow, boy was the smell terrible.! or washing under the eaves 0n the house with a rag and brush while up a ladder.Packing water from the pump for moms wash tubs was no fun in the winter months, you see we had a wringer washer and 2 rinse tubs. Chores were something else. Okolona had a major flood in the early 1960s I had to wade out every day and feed the chickens and gather .eggs We knew that water could be toxic but work had to be done.. Nothing like getting up on a Saturday in the summer knowing the garden needed work of some kind. How was your childhood in Okolona?
