When I was a kid in school, our teachers would let us play a game called Gossip. Teacher would write something on a slip of paper, let the first kid in the circle read it and teacher would pocket the note, and first kid would whisper what hed read into next kids ear and so on around the room. Last kid stood up and repeated what hed been told. Then the original writing was hauled out to see how much it had been changed after it made the rounds. Strange how it can get so twisted in the telling, with each person earnestly trying to tell the exact truth as they heard it. Were they lying and deliberately trying to pass on a fabrication? No.. When this happens in a group of friends or a family, it can cause estrangement. Sometimes the best thing to do is give everybody the benefit of the doubt and go on. Dont make it a lifes calling to nurse perceived slights and insults. Let it go!
