When I was a little girl my dad and my brothers worked everyday - TopicsExpress

When I was a little girl my dad and my brothers worked everyday after school to clear the land to put a house on, I remember picking up limbs and watching as the pile getting larger then ;when all was cleared away and ready for the house we were excited. My dad had left five natural persimmon trees all spaced on the acre of land on house would sit. With three step children and us five two parents the large house was needed! It was very little love in that house and sadness too, after his divorce we were again the five; however what I really wanted to share is this: years later when I was still in grammar school my dad and took me by my hand and said: Toni I want to show you something. He took a small bag from the freezer and we went outside to each of those wild persimmon trees, he made careful cuts in a limb at forty five degree and took small twigs and trimmed them the same way, placing them together so they fit tightly wrapped them with tape and told me it was Japan persimmon he was grafting, as wild they are very small still good to eat but much better are the larger ones, weeks later when it was warm he explained all took as the sap fed the branches~ We enjoyed the fruit many years and later he made a profit from selling the fruit later. One of the acts of love :)
