When I was a little girl , roughly about 9 yrs old I told my dad I wanted to be a ball player and he had to sign me up asap. So without any training or practice he took me to a coach on Ft. Eustis and said heres my daughter , can she try out? I tried out and my dad came to pick me up and the coach said Im sorry but your daughter isnt ready to play yet, maybe next season ok . I hung my head and my dad tilted my chin up and lifted my oversized Ft. Eustis hat up and said Dont you hang your head and dont you dare cry mami but I want you to remember that lump in your throat and that feeling you have right now in the future if you ever want to give up . I want you to remember that feeling of rejection if you ever feel like not practicing to be your best 27 years later I still hear my dad in my head... Ive said all of that because I was given some similar news this weekend. My coach advised me that I did not look where I need to be so that left me with two options. Either I quit or I pick another show to come in 120% . If any of you know me, I bet you can guess what I picked . Its the nature of this sport I love , you train, you sacrafice , you fail, you win, you regroup but under no circumstances ever give up. Another rep, another meal, another day. I had my day of sulking , of feeling like a failure and my party of one pity party ... Now its regroup time , 4 wks and counting and I promise all of you , itll be game over. Thank you Maria E. Morales,Adriana Morales-Bean & Gabriela Morales Jackson for lifting me up this weekend. Never underestimate the power of the love your family can show you and what it can do.
