When I was a student at Lew Wallace High School 1964-1967, I remember, if you were stopped by a teacher, they had the right to ask you to kneel on the ground, and if my skirt did not touch the ground, then it was toooo short and I was sent home. It could not be higher than you knees. Can you imagine that. Yes we wore skirts, nylons, not panty hose, nylons with girdles and those stupid clips that held the nylons up. We wore body girdles with bras built in.....I cannot even believe we put those robotic metal of armour as a bra......because nothing...I mean ....nothing could jiggle. Any skin or flesh jiggling was indecent I am laughing at my own memories. We did not wear slacks or jeans or shorts, we wore skirts sweaters (English Knits) and nylons , white slips under our skirts because GOD FORBID if you could see a shadow of my legs...and those dang slips were forever hanging down and every fricken guy going by you had to say YOUR SLIP IS SHOWING OMG how annoying as you quickly tried to roll the slip up at the waist band. We had no hair dryers with a hood attached. We teased and teased and ratted our hair with hair spray frozen stiff, You would shower or bathe the night before because you needed all night for your hair to dry naturally rolled in those things we called SPOOLIES......OMG or those huge rollers like cans.....how in the world did I sleep. When I got up, I had to put on all the above crap, nylons girdles, slips, bras, slips, tease my hair, spray my hair and then ....THE CAT LIKE EYELINER and mascara........It took a month to get ready for school. The 60s were rough.............wow.....................oh yeah lets not forget if you were going STEADY you had to fluff out your angora around your boyfriends ring to match your outfit. It was a job folks......a real job.....wrapping the angora around the ring, then taking your toothbrush and fluffing it out. The more fluffy the more boss....it was what it was........Pink Angora, Pink sweater, blue angora, blue sweater..........I am exhausted going down memory lane.
