When I was assigned to Engine Company 6 in Washington, DC - TopicsExpress

When I was assigned to Engine Company 6 in Washington, DC Saturdays were a big deal. Every Saturday all of the apparatus was placed on the front ramp and the entire firehouse was cleaned from top to bottom. The apparatus floors were washed and moped. All of the other floors in the firehouse were washed and waxed. The windows were cleaned, the furniture was dusted, and the kitchen was made spotless. Everybody participated, even the officers, and the whole process took hours. All of this effort was done so that the next shift which worked Sunday could take it easy and they would be ready for Sunday inspection. Saturdays became affectionately named “washout day”. This Psalm from David can is considered a prayer of a David to God his Savior, the one who is able to cleanse him from his sins. This Psalm could also be considered a cry of faith from David. Because David knew that His God was able to make him clean, David considered the prayer as good as done. God alone is able to forgive us of our sins. Jesus Christ died, was buried, and rose again the third day in order to the penalty for our sins. Through Jesus Christ alone all of our sins can be washed away and we will be whiter than snow. Have you ever trusted in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? Today could be your washout day.
