When I was coaching summer track I dished out a ONE YEAR suspension to one of the best athletes in the nation because of his behavior and his attitude. I didnt care what anyone else thought. Other teams tried to recruit him. Other coaches told me it was too harsh. It was my program and I never let ONE be a distraction to ALL, no matter how great the talent. He took his punishment like a G and came back FASTER and was an even more versatile sprinter on his high school team during the following year. Its easy to say from the outside looking in what a coach should do. My suggestion to anyone who is so passionate about a coachs decision in any sport: start your own athletic program and call the shots the way you see fit. There you have it.
