When I was growing up and times were tight. My mother never drove - TopicsExpress

When I was growing up and times were tight. My mother never drove and if we wanted to go someplace my brother, sister, and I would take the street bus or hoof it (walk). If we wanted to see a movie we earned the money to go see it. I remember babysitting for $0.50 an hour then $0.75 an hour, and finally $1.00 an hour. My first real job was $1.25 per hour. My son had a paper route when he was in High School, and he did math tutoring. When he wanted to go out he earned the money to go out. Kids today to not understand that money does not grow on trees and if you want to go out with friends, etc. then get off your fanny and earn the money.
