When I was in 7th and 8th grade, my brother, my sister and I were in summer science. We spent a lot of time learning about the natural world. It gave me time to spend in the woods which I already loved but also opened up the world of marshes to me which I came to love as well. Thank you Mr. LaValley. You may be gone but you are not forgotten for the gifts you gave me. Today after I played with the bees and finished moving the rest of the wood I took the dogs on a 3 mile hike/run. I like going on old railroad beds and there are several around the area. The rails and ties have been removed leaving just the cinders. I am surrounded by nature and I can let the dogs go without worrying about having them on a leash which is not fun for anyone. I found several plants that I did not know and will now look up and got to spend time in the marshes that run beside the bed. Maggie got tired being the old dog she is and Muttley (yes Wesley is in the dog house again) kept picking on her so I ended up running back to the car, hiking boots, backpack and all, pushing him ahead of me so he would leave the Mags alone. Thanks Wes, that was great.
