When I was in Downtown Detroit a few summers ago I had never seen so many African American families, married couples, and more riding their bikes on the new bike paths as well as using the public parks space. When I went to the Detroit Eastern Market the diversity of farmers and consumers were incredible. I walked into a group of older AA women in their 60s +doing Zumba and preparing for mile runs just because it was Saturday Morning. remember returning back to Grand Rapids and West Michigan feeling compelled to see the same diverse involvement here, I actually created something to help see this same vision. Now in 2015 ..how can we help make downtown Grand Rapids more diverse with participation from using our river and outdoor activities (biking and fitness)? I want to know what is not happening currently that would motivate many to get involved..thoughts ideas or suggestions?
