When I was in elementary school, kids that tested with IQs - TopicsExpress

When I was in elementary school, kids that tested with IQs exceeding 130 were put into a program called A.T. (academically talented). A few years later the program named was changed to M.G.M. (mentally gifted minors). Fast froward another decade or so and the program is now called G.A.T.E. (gifted and talented education). When I first started working in the corporate world the computer gurus worked in M.I.S. (management information systems). Now those same folks work in the I.T. department (Information Technology). Why, for the love of all things holy do we need to keep renaming things when a) the original name was just fine and b) nothing the program or department actually does is different? I have the answer to that question by the way. It is because morons work in bureaucracies and they need to justify their useless positions somehow. Making up new names for old stuff is business practices for morons 101. So, now you know. Youre welcome.
