When I was in high school, I gave a speech on...How to be a GOOD - TopicsExpress

When I was in high school, I gave a speech on...How to be a GOOD Customer! Jennifer Hall says she STILL remembers this speech! LOL! I started working at McDonalds when I was 15 years old. Almost every workers primary responsibility included waiting on customers in some way; however, we all had secondary jobs. These were things that needed to be done before we left for the day. They helped keep the restaurant clean and running efficiently throughout the day. They could be things like...toasting buns, stocking cups/lids/sauces/etc, sweeping and mopping, cleaning stainless, making salads, prepping items for the grill table, so forth and so on. I can remember getting so frustrated because the customers were usually the hold up with me taking care of both my primary and secondary responsibilities. My advise was simple.... Know what you want to eat before you arrive and keep meal modifications to a minimum.- There are people waiting in line behind you. When you sit and talk on your phone or browse the menu for 5 minutes, the person behind you thinks it is just slow service. However, you would be surprised how many people sit in line behind someone waiting for their turn to get to the speaker and when they finally arrive they still dont even know what they want to eat. LOL! If you feel frisky and would like to try something new, perhaps you should come inside and browse the menu. Also....I realize that everyone wants it their way...me included, but when you place a confusing order then YES they will get it wrong. Dont say, I would like a cheeseburger no ketchup, no onion, with pickles and mustard. The order taker doesnt need to know what you DONT want....just tell them what you DO want... a simple, Ill have a cheeseburger only pickles and mustard. is soooo much easier! Request condiments when you order so they can be put in the bag along with your order. Refrain from ADDING to your order at either window. Have your money ready when you pull up, and please dont sit and count a bunch of change. LOL! Take your order (yes check it quickly if need be), and them move on....you can put away money/debit cards, pass out food to the kids, and put straws in drinks once you have moved along. Do not come through the drive thru with multiple orders..... put them all on one ticket or go inside. Last but not least....call in large orders instead of just popping by with them. I know that we all get frustrated sitting in line at McDonalds for 20 minutes, but 9 times out of 10 I bet it is due to customer(s) in line getting things backed up.
