When I was in high school, my dad worked on a home burglary case. An elderly woman had her home broken into. She called the police. I don’t remember the details of whether the perp was caught or not. All I know is when my dad (NYPD) got off work he went to home depot and bought a brand new door lock. That same evening we went to replace this woman’s lock so that she would feel safer. This is just one of many stories of my dad going beyond his job description. I am so proud of him and for what he stands for. I just wanted to share this little story bc I know the NYPD is receiving a lot heat right now. There are a lot of cops that do good, we just don’t hear about it as often as we hear the bad.
