When I was in middle school, the Hawthorne mall was under - TopicsExpress

When I was in middle school, the Hawthorne mall was under construction. My brother and friends would adventure over there and ride our bikes down giant dug out holes. Often endowing and flying over our handlebars as we reached the bottom. The site was a growing boys playground. The urethane wheel was just invented and skateboard parks were popping up everywhere. If you are from that era you might recall OJ wheels, those orange wheels manufacturer were located in Hawthorne. So we loved to ride the parking lot doing tricks and riding around the circular ramps. Often risking pissing off a car who didnt see us coming. We ran through the mall. Devils we were as we figured out where the main light switch was for the Broadway, and would flip it off and run and hide in the middle of the nearest circular clothes rack. Daily scouring for $1 or more so we could play Foosball and our favorite pin ball games. And hopefully meet and or see our grade school crushes. The story of the mall is poor management from day one. Until it finally closed. So imagine my delight and sadness as this skeleton of Urban decay is documented here.
