When I was in the military, a few coworkers let it slip to an event planner that I sing, and before I knew it, I was tasked to sing the National Anthem. Though the difference between being able to sing, and being able to sing the Anthem is vast, I apparently pulled it off, because I went on to sing it several more times. Why do I mention this? Because in the process of making sure that I ABSOLUTELY knew the anthem, I re-discovered the 4th verse, and Im rather fond of it. Its not only patriotic, but Christian as well. Yet another nod to the values on which our country was founded... O thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand Between their loved home and the wars desolation. Blest with victry and peace, may the Heavn rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto: In God is our trust. And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave Oer the land of the free and the home of the brave!
