When I was just 10 years old I was exposed to suicide when someone very very close to me took their own life. I remember not fully understanding what it meant, but not having the capacity to understand that it was intentional I just figured it was one more thing to be afraid of. I mean I was aware that you could die from an accident or an illness or even from just being old but I had no idea that someone could kill themselves. for years I was afraid that I might accidentally commit suicide. I guess the one thing that I didnt miss was the finality of the situation. So for as long as I can remember I have had a pretty good handle on what it means to die, thats an awful lot for a child to handle believe me. I dont claim to know what would drive me to that moment, Im sure everyone has something that would push them to that end but all I can say is that there are people that will be forever changed for your desperate decision. lives will be altered. I realize that probably doesnt pop into the mind of someone in that state of mind but it needs to. I can tell you from personal experience that no one is ever going to understand why you did it but they will spend the rest of their lives wondering why they couldnt stop it. Thanks for listening to my long winded rant.
