When I was just about to turn 18 years old, I had been playing - TopicsExpress

When I was just about to turn 18 years old, I had been playing mandolin for a couple years. I met a couple wild freaks playing bluegrass at a jam in the house I took piano lessons in as a child. A couple weeks later, their mandolin player quit, and they called me the day of a gig and asked if I could come play it with them. I went over there and winged it, and 15 years hence, Im still the junior member. Weve performed under at least 4 different names. Weve played to a packed Neighborhood Theater, and next to a trash barrel while crazy drunken hillbillies burned plastic bottles. Weve fallen out from drunken heatstroke, and gone to my car to put on every sweatshirt in the trunk during a break from playing on a flatbed trailer in December. Weve seen each other through our darkest times, and to this day, theyre the guys I call when Im really and truly in trouble. Weve always played with more enthusiasm than skill, which I think might kind of be the point of bluegrass music, maybe music in general. I miss them all the time, and sometimes resort to watching clips of us on youtube. Here we are in 2007. https://youtube/watch?v=fHN0SyNWz3Y
