When I was much younger, I played fast pitch softball. - TopicsExpress

When I was much younger, I played fast pitch softball. Occasionally I tried to pitch, but I could not whip my arm around fast enough with just my strength and determination. It took much more. Then I learned the key was loading the power by creating a slight pause that built up energy when my arm would brush against my hip. Then, the whip happened and released the ball to propel it with more speed. Recently, I have realized that this principle applies in a similar way to casting a fly fishing line with a nine foot fly rod. Casting well does not happen by simply casting harder with all my energy. In fact, that over exertion of human energy insures failure. The line will fall in a frustrating mess in front of you. To make a good cast, the rod must pause twice -- once in the back cast and second in the forward motion.! The pause allows the rod to load up energy so that it can shoot the line out a remarkable distance with ease! This pausing is not a natural event. I had to learn it and trust the principle behind it. Believe me it works -- have faith in letting go and allowing the rod to do its job., In reality, Advent is also a holy pause, which loads up for Christmas, for the coming of the Christ child. The music and video below help us recognize the eternal value of pausing or slowing to refocus our spiritual energy to launch into the year in the power of Gods gift. We need to pause and let go so that Advent may do its holy work. Happy Advent!
