When I was nine years old, my dad was in the US Navy and we were stationed in Valparaiso, Chile. I was already a big comic book fan (Black Hawk, The Phantom, and The Lone Ranger were my favorites), but about then I began to read books. Since there was no TV there, reading was the only entertainment on rainy non-school days. And all the books in the stores were in Spanish! So I found the library at the Episcopal Church, which was comprehensive and catholic. They had *Anne of Green Gables*, *The Three Musketeers*, *Homers Odyssey*, many of the old Nancy Drew mysteries, and a lot of other old classics -- in English. And the pastor must have been a mystery fan, because they had Agatha Christie, Dorothy Sayers, and Ngaio Marsh. And they had Rex Stout. Not all of them, but a lot. And those puzzles were soooooo fascinating to a nine-year-old. So... How did you meet Nero Wolfe? Where did you find your first Nero Wolfe novel, and do you remember what it was? Tell us how you came to be Wolfean.
