When I was nominated for this challenge by Sajith P Surendran, it really made me think, about the last time I read a book (By book, I mean a book which can be touched, felt, smelled, hugged and kissed and used as a pillow if needed not e-copies/softcopies. ! ) Yes, the reading time for those beyond our ‘reading list and recommended readings’ has considerably reduced. But I recollect, I do have sweet past of a voracious reader! I remembered that when I gave my heart to someone for the first time in my life I also gifted that person my most treasured possessions! Two books, one in the beginning of the relationship, and one when I realized I should find my way out of it. The Third in my list is the one which I have read and reread several times. I think that is too much of an introduction… Here is the list: (exclusive of non-fiction) 1. Oru Deshathinte Katha (Saga of a Locale) – S K Pottekattu 2. Brida – Paulo Coelho 3. Khasakinte Ithihasam ( Legend of Khasak) – O V Vijayan 4. Daivathinte Vikruthikal (God’s Mischief) – M Mukundan 5. The Last Leaf – O Henry ( Short Story) ( I must say most of the short stories by O Henry) 6. The Bet – Anton Chekhov ( Short Story) 7. Merchant of Venice – William Shakespeare 8. Othello – William Shakespeare 9. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer – Mark Twain 10. Bhoomiyude Avakashikal – Vaikom Muhammad Basheer ( or the complete works of Basheer) Can this list be longer?? #Sajith Because I have many more.. Marana Certificate by Anand, Ini Njan Urangatte – P K Balakrishnan , Gurusagaram – OV Vijayan, Verukal – Malayattoor , Mayyazhippuzhayude Theerangalil – M Mukundan, Thottiyude Makan – Thakazhi and many more… As an epilogue to this, most of the books from these list are from my teen-days.. (say before 16) Now I am 25. Somehow, reading habit faded, and if not substituted, by many other things, most important reason is the free and abundant availability of movies on internet.
