When I was ten years old, I cross-stitched a sampler with a different pastel thread for each word. Greet the Day With A Song. Make Others Happy. Serve Gladly. The jute colored cloth was bound with a rope and green ribbon trim, whipstitched to hang from the wall. Years later, when I moved to Mexico from Portland, Oregon, I gave this sampler to my daughter, Octavia Hunter. Over the last week, because of the medical intervention Ive had (which I have phrased as getting electrocuted,) I have returned to the feeling of a simple and sweet time in my life. Everything around me is soft, and I love all I see. I was abused by my father right after I made that sampler, and I was not able to live in the grace of what it meant. Now that has been returned to me. My new days are greeted with lovely song, and an appreciation for all this splendid life around me. Thank you, each of you, my wonderful friends.
