When I was very young my younger brother Tftka Dawidalle - TopicsExpress

When I was very young my younger brother Tftka Dawidalle challenged me to memorize verses 9-16 (the B or Beth section) and it has become my mantra and mantle although several other parts of these 176 verses are just as familiar, loved and have been committed to memory. I am struck by the relationship of the psalmist with the Lord of the law. He certainly is in a love affair with the law and the Lord. This is evidenced by his no shortage of words. Reminds me of when I was courting my wife. We had to try to practice temperance otherwise would spend all night and all day talking on the phone. It is very important to keep that up in the marriage if we want to keep the relationship strong. Hmmm, why does that sometimes seem so much easier before? The safe applies to my relationship with God. If I want to keep it fresh, I must take time to be holy, speak oft with [my] Lord... spend much time in secret with Jesus alone... I notice specific reoccurring themes in this psalm, including: -I love Gods word, the are my greatest benefit and protection -My enemies hate Gods word and me as a result (but its really God they hate) -I just cant keep quiet because Gods word is in me and keeps coming out of me (especially from my lips) Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to Thy word. With my whole heart have I sought Thee: O let me not wander from Thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee. Blessed art Thou, O Lord: teach me Thy statutes. With my lips have I declared all the judgments of Thy mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of Thy testimonies, as much as in all riches. I will meditate in Thy precepts, and have respect unto Thy ways. I will delight myself in Thy statutes: I will not forget Thy word. Psalms 119:9-16.
