When I was younger I never liked Black Sabbaths Vol 4 even though I enjoy their other early output. Ive been giving it a listen lately, and while I understand why I didnt like it back then, Ive grown to appreciate it now. Its sludgy and raw, which is great, but its also incoherent and sloppy at times. It also has proggy jazz-like digressions and seemingly impromptu jam-band tendencies.
