When I wath When I watch online the videos of the daily gruesome murder of innocuous but helplessly defenseless Nigerians by Boko Haram,, I try to balance the likely moods and atmosphere of the families of the victims with that of the seemingly unruffled signs of the govt and its apologists who bubble as if all is uhuru, I become so depressed. Let us not play down the fact that there is fire on the mountain hence we must not crawl. When I say that violence is authoured and indirectly sparked off by govt through bad policies does not translates into my support for violence because according to Mahatma Gandhi,- I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent.. But violence is always a reaction to an action of an environment where a govt fails to harmoniously marry or weld the indices of politics, policies and polity which are inseparable and necessary tripartite tools for good governance. Again according to Mahatma Gandhi, The Roots of Violence are Wealth without work, Pleasure without conscience, Knowledge without character, Commerce without morality, Science without humanity, Worship without sacrifice, Politics without principles. I therefore advocate that govt had better financed agencies on campaigns against violence that is currently exterminating a race in the north east of Nigeria instead of funding groups that are campaigning for continuity of govt tenure. We must equally note that even if nigeria troops seem to over run the insurgents in the trouble turned area, no sane person will inhabit such areas in the next 4 years.
