When I work out, it isnt to impress the person lifting next to me. - TopicsExpress

When I work out, it isnt to impress the person lifting next to me. It isnt to beat another persons time. It isnt to do more reps or more weight than someone else. No, I work out to defeat that voice that pops into my head, the voice that says this is enough, stop. That is why I work out. I do it to compete, not against anyone else, but against myself. When I win that internal battle and in turn get to know the satisfaction of victory in showing that voice that I can do one more set, one more minute, one more rep, it makes me want to do it again and again and again until I am to the brink of falling down and scratching and clawing for the chance to do it again. That is why I push myself. If I can make myself go until I mentally and physically cant move one more inch, then I know I can defeat that voice in all areas of my life. I can take charge and not let this dark time in my life beat me and keep me down. This is #whyisucceed
