When John Gomez went around the office asking who had been to Cabrillo, and over half had not, he almost had a heart attack. Literally! So yesterday, GTA took a firm field trip. We started off at Cabrillo National Monument where Ranger Debbie gave us a very informative and exciting tour. At the Cabrillo Statue, we learned about the history of this National Monument. We walked through the Military Exhibit and enjoyed the views from the Old Point Loma Lighthouse. From there, we went to Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. Once again, we had a great tour guide, Scott Jones. He informed us, that this military cemetery is located on the grounds of the former Army coastal artillery station Fort Rosecrans and is administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. Here, we paid our respects to the fallen soldiers by placing red and white roses on the grave sites. After exploring the natural and cultural history of the area, we were famished. We headed to Point Loma Seafoods to enjoy The freshest thing in town. Yesterday was a great team building day.
