When John, who was in prison, heard about the deeds of the - TopicsExpress

When John, who was in prison, heard about the deeds of the Messiah, he sent his disciples to ask him, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?” Matthew 11:2-3 (NCV) God appointed John the Baptist to be the one to announce the coming of Jesus as savior of the world. John accomplished this when he met Jesus and proclaimed, Behold the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. John 1:29 Yet, we see here in Matthews gospel, John the Baptist experiencing moments of doubt, while pining away in prison. He wondered whether he had missed it when he announced Jesus as savior, since things werent going as well for him as he had hoped. Sometimes life can take a turn for the worse and leave us with our doubts about our faith. We may ask ourselves whether God is actually listening. When our troubles overwhelm us, we may wonder, like John, whether Jesus is indeed our savior, or whether we should look for relief from some place else. Jesus reassured John the Baptist that he was, in fact, the redeemer, by sending word that he was restoring sight to the blind, healing lepers, raising the dead, and preaching the good news to the poor. We can be reassured that Jesus is Lord, too, when we shift our focus from our current troubles to the wonderful things Jesus has already done for us. The saying is so true, Jesus may not come when we want Him, but He will be there right on time! #TrustingGodcompletelyin2014
