When Judy Mowatt reinforces the I Threes in 1974, it is not a novice in the field of the song. Its in Kingston where she was born in 1953 Judy begins to tease the microphone in the group The Gaylettes she had formed with Beryl Lawrence and Merle Clemencon. When three years tardn Beryl and Merle go try their luck at Usa, Judy began a solo career under the name Juliann. Despite a critical success, especially for the song I Shall Sing Judys career does not take off really. Things will change when in 1974, Rita Marley offers Marcia Griffiths and Judy to become his backing singers for a duet she sings with Bob Andy on behalf of Studio One. The experience that has proven successful, the three young women decide to base the I Threes to accompany the Wailers during their international tours. In 1979, Marley asked Judy to be the first artist to record for his Tuff Gong label. This will be the album Black Woman true musical gem carved by Bob Marley and Freddie McGregor and which continue to revel reggae lovers. Judy continues with Only A Woman in 1982 and Mr Dj it publishes on its own Ashandan label the same year. Follow the albums Working Wonder at Shanachie in 1985 and beautiful Love Is Overdue released by Greensleeves in 1986. Today, Judy Mowatt was a little set back from the stage, dedicating advantage in order of charitable actions.
