When Juno has a few nights in a row of waking in the wee hours of the morning and demanding sit up and turn the telly on pweaaaaase!. Where nothing else can be done but to comply and be up with her for a few hours.... We know that something amazing will follow!! ✨Increased awareness. More complex speech patterns. Faster responses. Stronger leggies. Far more inquisitive ✨ Im not quite as shocked by the exponential improvements as I used to be. I just remind myself that the 🌈 rainbow after the 🌊 storm will soon arrive and cure our fatigue and sore heads!!!!! To most this video will likely be boring. I share it with Junos past therapists in mind so they can see just how far shes come. Our child who would likely never learn any basic skills is someone we left behind long ago. I never believed our daughter would be able to tell us shes hungry or hot or scared from a noise outside. Or that shed ask me for a cuddle while we watch Sesame Street together. I never thought we would be able to touch her skin, put shoes on her feet or that she would ever reach out and investigate with confidence. We still dont know where well end up but I am comforted in knowing even if we didnt get any further than this place that she is able to communicate her wants and needs, is well on her way to toileting and can now navigate most even surfaces. As a parent its a huge comfort to know she will be ok when were not here any more. One of my biggest worries since her diagnosis was what will happen when I die, who will care for her, how will she survive. To be consumed by those thoughts with a newborn is terrifying, but I am resting now, knowing she is a very capable little lady 🙏
