When Kandhamal by-poll is under way, I am reminded of Umerkote Assembly by-poll in 2011. Umerkote by-poll in-charge was the BJD Chanakya as per direction of the Party supremo. There Pyari Babu tried to put his feet in to the shoes of Naveen Patnaik and earned his wrath. It was almost the end part of 2011 and the Supremo was upset to see larger than life cut-outs of Pyari Babu along with his own, started in Umerkote and repeated till Athgarh. Naveen felt threatened. Then came the anti-climax on the 29th May 2012. At Umerkote also all the Ministers were camping and more than 50 MLAs along with their contractors and Chitfund directors were seen crowding the limited roads in the constituency. The ruling party candidate who was driver of the deceased MLA got elected with a margin as predicted by two non-astrologer/ fortune tellers viz: Pyari Babu and his closest follower Arun Sahoo with mathematical precision. Every thing happened as per design that was pre-planned. Now in Kandhamal, Minister Bikram Arukh is over all in-charge assisted by 20 Ministers and and 75 MLAs. They are supposed to come with money, men power, muscle power and material to woo the voters in seven Assembly segments spread over four districts. MLA Prabhat Tripathy was also there at Umerkote, where he met with a fatal accident. Later, Prabhat Babu was sent to Sundergarh to take care of Municipality election there. He spent large amount of fund to see that the Party candidates are elected. Now he is facing the music and at any time he may get arrested by the CBI. After Kandhamal by-poll we have to see how many of these Ministers and MLAs land up in jail for the money they have swindled to spend for the sake of the Party at the direction of the Party supremo. Like JJ of Tamilnadu, the Party supremo of the BJD in Odisha will have the last joke, when all his Ministers will disclose how much they spent from which Chitfund in which election and when. The biggest joke in Odisha is that peoples money is given to the people during elections.. Nothing reveals a mans character better than the kind of joke at which he takes offense.
