When Mercury is in the constellation of Scorpio, our environment - TopicsExpress

When Mercury is in the constellation of Scorpio, our environment and our dialogues take us far deeper than they normally do on the surface. In this way, the internal processing of events is actually a buffer between an interaction or some kind of stimulus, and an explosive fight that only continues to escalate as it goes on. What does it mean to not engage, or react – and how can this differ from neglect or apathy? If we know, intellectually and perhaps from experience, that when we do not react to something we don’t escalate it or provide further ammunition for the conflict – what continues to re-wrap us up in something? What actually makes us tick? The ego? The shadow? Whatever it is, it is as though it is violently intoxicating, Jekyl/Hyde potentials. Plutonian. Etc… As in war (Pluto, ruling sign of Scorpio, is a higher octave of Mars), in moments of eruptive interactions, fights, etc… the possibility of being strategic is not necessarily a shadow expression, (i.e. manipulation), but a way of handling an intense situation under pressure (Scorpio) and de-escalating a situation. Who do you know in your life- personally, or through a story – who has exhibited a behavior that generally upsets the people around them? At one stage of the story, someone or someones attempt to change or alter the behavior of the other person. They fight against it, resist it. By the end, perhaps if all went relatively peacefully, both sides exited transmuted in some way. The unruly character has settled, but still expresses themselves authentically, and the offended party or parties now has come to terms in a more realistic sense, “that’s just who they are”. And, without a force to fight up against, the wild person is settled and shows a greater compassion, perhaps has softened some of their rough edges. This is an offering to think critically about conflict with others. When neither side is going to back down – i.e. both fervently believe in an opposing cause to the other and this won’t change no matter what – what’s next, if not destruction? If not destruction, one or both sides have adjusted themselves, somehow, perhaps subtley… and is this not strategy? Sometimes the strategy comes first, from a place of defense or pressure to change – and then, with hindsight and reflection (perhaps for the next Mercury retrograde if we have to wait), there is the love. Cause after all…whether it’s right or wrong, it just really hurts to shadow box. monarchastrology/2014/11/25/mercury-in-scorpio-shadow-boxing-conjunct-saturn-and-squaring-jupiter-in-leo/
