When Myron May was attending FSU, if he was diagnosed with cancer, he may have been referred to the Moffitt Center for a possible cure. While attending law school in Texas, if he was diagnosed with cancer, plenty of folks would have directed him to MD Anderson for possible life changing treatments. But somehow, when his family and friends knew he was fighting the disease of mental illness, successful treatment was not achieved before todays tragedy occurred. Cancer is a disease and mental illness is a disease. Lets put as much emphasis on mental illness as we do on cancer. The fact is this: they both have the potential to greatly impact the lives of others not actually battling the respective disease. NO, Im not defending his actions, but I am not willing to ignore a contributing factor either. May God bless all of those impacted by todays events.
