When Ruben Herrera runs to the grocery store, he means business. In fact, it is his business. The 26-year-old entrepreneur launched a small grocery delivery business called G-Runners. He and his handful of employees do the shopping, so people who are too busy or unable to go to the store dont have to. Its very much a convenience, he said. And its very a very addicting experience. Herrera laces up his bright-colored running shoes and delivers custom orders to doorsteps. And hes finding his niche delivering milk, eggs, tortillas and more to customers like Luz Ramirez. She first called on G-Runners for help when her husband was very ill. I didnt want to leave him, she said. I didnt want to be wasting and hour or hour and a half at the grocery store and not be here. How it works is simple. Customers go the company website sagrocerydelivery and fill out the order form. He then shops the store of the customers choice. The customer reimburses G-Runners for the cost of the groceries. A delivery fee, depending on zip code, is tacked on. Its typically $25 to $35. Herrera said he got the idea for the business from his sister. My sister, being that she had small kids, she hated going to the grocery store, he said. Its a convenience thats catching on. Burpy delivers locally as well. Big retailers like Walmart and Amazon have launched grocery delivery in other markets. Herrera admits he does sometimes get tired of going to the grocery store. But the reward is worth it, he said. #KSATnews
