When Shabnam Gani Lone threatened to cancel Mian Abdul Qayooms license - greaterkashmir/GKM/ShowStory.asp?NewsID=46&CategoryID=18 Qayoom said it is a well stated policy decision of the Bar Association that it will work for resolution of Kashmir dispute rather than taking part in the elections. Advocate Shabnum Gani Lone pleaded, “If I make this submission before the Chief Justice of India in Supreme court as a supreme court bar member that Kashmir Association bar president was making the speeches about UN resolutions, which means he does not accept the territorial jurisdiction of India, his license will be cancelled,” she pleaded. “All right, you take this license. We are not bothered about license. A person’s right of self determination first,” Qayoom said in response to Lone’s submissions before the court. “I am not aspirant for any Chamber because I don’t accept any concession from the goverment. I am obliged to my conscience and will take decisions in keeping with Bar constitution,” he pleaded.
