When Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah addressed the Tartars for - TopicsExpress

When Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah addressed the Tartars for ruling by al-Yāsiq, should we accuse the Shaykh of dabbling “…in the affairs of politics…”? So how are we to interpret the statement of the Ibn Taymiyyah when he said: ‘And it is known by necessity in the Deen of the Muslims and by the agreement of all the Muslims that whoever follows a Sharî’ah other than the Sharî’ah of Muhammad (SAW) then he is a Kāfir and it is like the Kufr of the one who believes in some of the Book and disbelieves insome of the Book.’ (Fatwa Vol.28 pg.524) And the Shaykh was addressing the Tartars who had begun to rule over the Muslims with other than the prescribed sources, so Shaykh al-Islām never hesitated and issued a Fatwah condemning their acts. But is this not politics? – referring to how a state is governed and according to what rules and laws? If Fiqh al-Wāqi’ has been attacked because it occupies ones time with politics, then if we are to follow the example of Shaykh Ibn Taymiyyah, then we may be accused of occupying our time in politics like the Shaykh was. Or maybe it is a way to divert the ‘Ummah’s attention away from the reality, the fact that the Hijāz is being ruled by Tawagheet who have renovated their palaces into halls of worship whereby they can issue laws and attempt to replace the worship of Allâh ta‘ala in exchange for the believers to make Tawāf around their newly built shrines.
