When The Holy Spirit Is In Control Of Our Heart We Will Be Useful Loving Christians Who Live Peaceably With All Men And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. (Matt 25:40) If I Can Help Somebody - https://youtube/watch?v=-pCRdNc11NM Life is not about us being SERVEd by others but about us being of SERVICE to others. “And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.” (Mark 10:44). Greatness doesn’t come from what we possess, where we live, the size of our pay cheque or the value of our assets. True greatest comes when we follow the example of Jesus and become a servant of all and to all. This can only occur When we have an encounter with the Saviour of the world. Through this encounter we will be propelled to become useful followers of Christ. God does not want followers who spend time in the study of the word only. God wants followers who will allow the Holy Spirit to propel them to be useful agents in spreading the everlasting gospel to men. When Jesus was leaving the earth, He gave his disciples a very important command found in Matt. 28:19, 20 which says “19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Those who are followers of Christ must participate in active service to rescue those who are living in the pit of sin. This morning the Lord is reminding us that we must be useful Christian. Look at what Jesus said in Matt. 25:40 – “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” God expects us to help those who are in need. God expects us to follow the example of Jesus. While Jesus walked this earth He concentrated his efforts in helping those who are in need; He healed the sick, raised the dead, cast our devil, restored sight to the blind and fed the hungry. When the Holy Spirit is in control of our lives, we will be propelled to help those who are in need. The writer of the lesson reminds us that by showing love to others in this kind of way we are helping them to understand and accept the love of God. The songwriter reminds us that “we are the only Jesus some will ever see.” Through our actions we can help someone to understand and accept the love of God. Reflect for a moment on these powerful words from the Apostle Paul found in Rom. 12:9-18. Here the Apostle Paul said, “9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. 10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; 11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; 12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; 13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. 14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. 15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. 16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. 17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.” I pray that we will continue to allow the Holy Spirit to help us to continue to be useful Christians in this world. Grace is unmerited favor, and the believer is justified without any merit of his own, without any claim to offer to God. He is justified through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, who stands in the courts of heaven as the sinners substitute and surety. But while he is justified because of the merit of Christ, he is not free to work unrighteousness. Faith works by love and purifies the soul. Faith buds and blossoms and bears a harvest of precious fruit. Where faith is, good works appear. The sick are visited, the poor are cared for, the fatherless and the widows are not neglected, the naked are clothed, the destitute are fed. Christ went about doing good, and when men are united with Him, they love the children of God, and meekness and truth guide their footsteps. The expression of the countenance reveals their experience, and men take knowledge of them that they have been with Jesus and learned of Him. Christ and the believer become one, and His beauty of character is revealed in those who are vitally connected with the Source of power and love. Christ is the great depositary of justifying righteousness and sanctifying grace. (Selected Messages, bk. 1, pg. 398 – Ellen G. White) To become a toiler, to continue patiently in well-doing which calls for self-denying labor, is a glorious work, which Heaven smiles upon. Faithful work is more acceptable to God than the most zealous and thought-to-be holiest worship. It is working together with Christ that is true worship. Prayers, exhortation, and talk are cheap fruits, which are frequently tied on; but fruits that are manifested in good works, in caring for the needy, the fatherless, and widows, are genuine fruits, and grow naturally upon a good tree. Pure religion and undefiled before the Father is this: To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. Good deeds are the fruit that Christ requires us to bear: kind words, deeds of benevolence, of tender regard for the poor, the needy, the afflicted. When hearts sympathize with hearts burdened with discouragement and grief, when the hand dispenses to the needy, when the naked are clothed, the stranger made welcome to a seat in your parlor and a place in your heart, angels are coming very near, and an answering strain is responded to in heaven. Every act of justice, mercy, and benevolence makes melody in heaven. The Father from His throne beholds those who do these acts of mercy, and numbers them with His most precious treasures. And they shall be Mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up My jewels. Every merciful act to the needy, the suffering, is regarded as though done to Jesus. When you succor the poor, sympathize with the afflicted and oppressed, and befriend the orphan, you bring yourselves into a closer relationship to Jesus. (Testimonies, vol. 2, pg. 24, 25 – Ellen G. White)
