When We Allow Our Imagination To Dwell Upon Vain And Impure Subjects God Will See Us As A Transgressor Of His Law Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. (Ps. 139:23, 24) Search Me O God - https://youtube/watch?v=ScP1eFFh1ro What a powerful message from the Lord. Here we are reminded that God will not only judge our actions but He will judge our thoughts as well. There are many of us Christian who seem to forget these important words from the Bible… “O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. (Matt. 12:34). Every single one of our actions resulted from thoughts within our mind. And while not all our thoughts ever result in action don’t think for one moment that God is going to only judge our actions. In Ecc. 12:14 King Solomon said “For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” Notice very carefully that the word every used in this statement. Nothing that we imagine or think about is hidden from God… Every one of our imagination are recorded in the book of remembrance… Let us spend some time for a moment to reflect on the things which have passed through our imagination since we got up this morning. How would you feel if the members of your family saw the things which passed through your imagination over the past two weeks? How would you feel if the young man you have been “eyeing” for some time should get a chance to read all the imaginations which passed through your mind? How would you feel is the brethren at church should get a change to read your thoughts? I am not sure if you feel the same way that I feel right now. Many of us would hang our heads in shame if the persons around us should know all the secrets that go on in our minds. Do you know what is really disturbing? I am not sure if we realize that God know all our thoughts and imaginations long before they came to our minds. It is very scary to think that we are more concerned about what people around us would think about our imagination than what God thinks. My friend; we can fool the people but we cannot fool God. He knows every single secret in our heart and one day He will judge us for every single one of them. The only way to get rid of these sinful thoughts is to allow the Holy Spirit to take full control of every single area of our lives. We must get God to search our hearts and remove all the impurities therein so that we can gain the victory over any sinful imaginations. The heart of the Pharisee is a barren and profitless soil, in which no seeds of divine life can flourish. It is he who yields himself most unreservedly to God that will render Him the most acceptable service. For through fellowship with God men become workers together with Him in presenting His character in humanity. The service rendered in sincerity of heart has great recompense. Thy Father which seeth in secret Himself shall reward thee openly. By the life we live through the grace of Christ the character is formed. The original loveliness begins to be restored to the soul. The attributes of the character of Christ are imparted, and the image of the Divine begins to shine forth. The faces of men and women who walk and work with God express the peace of heaven. They are surrounded with the atmosphere of heaven. For these souls the kingdom of God has begun. They have Christs joy, the joy of being a blessing to humanity. They have the honor of being accepted for the Masters use; they are trusted to do His work in His name. {DA 312.2} No man can serve two masters. We cannot serve God with a divided heart. Bible religion is not one influence among many others; its influence is to be supreme, pervading and controlling every other. It is not to be like a dash of color brushed here and there upon the canvas, but it is to pervade the whole life, as if the canvas were dipped into the color, until every thread of the fabric were dyed a deep, unfading hue. (Desire of Ages, pg. 312 – Ellen G. White) You should control your thoughts. This will not be an easy task; you cannot accomplish it without close and even severe effort. Yet God requires this of you; it is a duty resting upon every accountable being. You are responsible to God for your thoughts. If you indulge in vain imaginations, permitting your mind to dwell upon impure subjects, you are, in a degree, as guilty before God as if your thoughts were carried into action. All that prevents the action is the lack of opportunity. Day and night dreaming and castle-building are bad and exceedingly dangerous habits. When once established, it is next to impossible to break up such habits, and direct the thoughts to pure, holy, elevated themes. You will have to become a faithful sentinel over your eyes, ears, and all your senses if you would control your mind and prevent vain and corrupt thoughts from staining your soul. The power of grace alone can accomplish this most desirable work. (Testimonies for the Church, vol. 2. Pg. 561 – Ellen G. White) Every soul has a heaven to win, and a hell to shun. And the angelic agencies are all ready to come to the help of the tried and tempted soul. He, the Son of the infinite God, endured the test and trial in our behalf. The cross of Calvary stands vividly before every soul. When the cases of all are judged, and they [the lost] are delivered to suffer for their contempt for God and their disregard of His honor in their disobedience, not one will have an excuse, not one will need to have perished. It was left to their own choice who should be their prince, Christ or Satan. All the help Christ received, every man may receive in the great trial. The cross stands as a pledge that not one need be lost, that abundant help is provided for every soul. We can conquer the satanic agencies, or we can join ourselves with the powers that seek to counterwork the work of God in our world.... (Selected Messages, bk. 1, pg. 96 – Ellen G. White) You may never know the result of your influence from day to day, but be sure that it is exerted for good or evil. Many who have a kind heart and good impulses permit their attention to be absorbed in worldly business or pleasure, while the souls that look to them for guidance drift on to hopeless wreck. Such persons may have a high profession and may stand well in the opinion of men, even as Christians, but in the day of God, when our works shall be compared with the divine law, then it will be found that they have not come up to the standard. (Counsels on Health, pg. 413 – Ellen G. White) Throw a pebble into the lake, and a wave is formed, and another, and another; and as they increase, the circle widens, until they reach the very shore. Thus our influence, though apparently insignificant, may continue to extend far beyond our knowledge or control. (Review and Herald, January 24, 1882 – Ellen G. White)
