When a campers chooses to come back to Tawingo summer after - TopicsExpress

When a campers chooses to come back to Tawingo summer after summer, s/he eventually finds him/herself in either the Algonkin or Dowanewa Circles (oldest boys and girls, respectively). These circles enjoy a few special programs over the course of a session. One is the Alwanekin - a joint adventure race, of sorts, which includes mixed teams of boys and girls, competing in challenges for points; theres also a lunch-out, and a joint Campfire in the evening, usually organized by a camper who is working on his/her Eagle Crest. Last night the Dowanewa had their Shish. Taking place outside behind Jorgi Junction in a theme-decorated dining area, food is prepared by the Dowanewa for the Donwanewa (and a few special guests)...food like shish-kabobs cooked on the grill over an open flame, outdoor oven, fire-baked bread, homemade jam, salad, punch, and brownies. This sessions theme: a Tea Party (Costumes were great). Tonight the Algonkin enjoyed their Roast Out - same idea, but a roast of beef baked in the oven but finished over the fire. The theme: Jurassic Park. Both of these outdoor meals represent food and fellowship at their best... Tonight, also, the Donwanewa hosted Coffee House - a talent show to which all non-counselling staff are invited. Acts include skits, songs (original and otherwise), magic, dancing, and music (piano and guitar). Two to three Dowanewa hosts act as emcees introducing each act in a fun, creative way. Intermission is punctuated by the eating of outdoor oven, fire-baked chocolate chip banana bread, coffee, tea, and great conversation with our oldest girl campers. Here are some photos from tonights Coffee House. Sorry for the grainy quality... Suffice to say, its a great way to finish ones career as a camper at Tawingo - as an Algonkin or a Dowanewa!
