When a member of another group brought up what she thought was an herbal medication approved by the FDA her doctor prescribed for her, I had to break the news. Unfortunately, it isnt a true medicinal herb. It has properties derived from, which sometimes are found to cause trouble down the road when they isolate suspected good components from the rest of the source. The good news: insurance pays. Personally, I much prefer my cup of green tea with a slice of lemon. For others interested, heres a list of foods (and a few herbs) that naturally contain COX2 inhibitors: • Celeryseed • Ginkgo (ginkgo leaves are not a food) for apigenin • Skullcap (not a food) for baicalein • Hops, barberry, goldenseal, goldthread, Oregon grape, yellowroot (none of these are foods) for berberine • Boswellia (not a food) for boswellic acid • Rhubarb, currant , and green tea for catechin • Green tea, cabbage, and chives for kaempferol • Clove, rosemary, thyme, sage, lavender, marjoram and ginseng • Cardamom, ginger and turmeric for curcumin • Feverfew (not a food) • Rosemary, sage, and thyme for ursolic acid CAUTION: never jump into a herbal or nutritional supplement without checking with a professional trained in knowing potential conflicts with health conditions or medications.
