When a rich man knows you have a boyfriend and he asks you out by saying things like I will provide for you better than that dude can. I will buy you things that he cannot afford to give you, then you know that you are dealing with a man who, in spite of all his material wealth, suffers from serious low self esteem. And there is no poverty worse than to have no confidence in oneself. A man who is confident in who he is does not win you over by undermining your partner. But more than that, a man who says such things actually has very little respect for you, because he has reduced you to a woman who only requires material things to be satisfied. Your intellectual and emotional growth are clearly a secondary issue to him, hence he wants to win you over by buying THINGS rather than stimulating growth in you. Such men are so poor that the only thing they have is money. There are women who are happy being in a relationship defined by things, and thats their choice. Such women will leave great men for mediocre men who offer them THINGS. But there are women who value other important attributes in a man, and such women frustrate men who are used to women who prefer THINGS over substance. They leave such men wondering What does she see in that man of hers? The answer is simple: she sees a man.
