When are doctors going to actually do their job and actually care - TopicsExpress

When are doctors going to actually do their job and actually care for patients instead of misdiagnosing and giving anti depressants and pills to patients with Chronic Illness. Every conversation I have had lately with M.E/CFS and fibromyalgia patients has been the same, that most doctors just say it is all in their head and prescribe them anti depressants and to get on with it. This is disgusting and needs to change. I have nothing against anti depressants or medication that may benefit a patient ongoing with other health concerns, but excluding serious chronic illness, because they dont believe the patients concern after a lazy 10 minute chat in a doctors room, is outrageous. Dont treat the symptoms, treat the cause. It makes me angry and upset to see so many clients who KNOW what the have is real, that can physically feel it with their symptoms, yet our so called medical profession dismisses it and tell them to sleep it off or take a pill. There really needs to be more care, communication and awareness around Chronic Illness as a whole so the medical profession, health profession and patients care is looked after appropriately. Sorry for this rant, My respect to the doctors who do care and are working tirelessly to help patients with chronic illness, and there are some fantastic ones out there, unfortunately 70% doctors couldnt care less. This was confirmed to me by a doctor who I recently met. I explained to her what we do CFS Health and how we help with with M.E/CFS, she congratulated me on the work I do as it is much needed. She went on to say that out of the 7 doctors at her clinic she was the only doctor that would spend more then 30 minutes with a patient. The other doctors work on a 15 minute rotation as they get payed more that way. If you are a patient struggling to find a diagnosis, look for second and third opinion, find a doctor who UNDERSTANDS you and can relate with you. #TREATME/CFSSERIOUSLY #chronicillness
