When building large luxury homes whether modular or stick frame their designs are always unique and guaranteed to be complicated. In these photos we are building the upper portion of the turret & turret roof. This roof design is on the extreme end of the scale when it comes to custom design. For instance each individual rafter is hand cut from a 24 LVL using a paper bow pattern. The roof sheathing, because of its flexibility, was cut from 1/4 plywood and was required to tightly follow the bowed rafters all perfectly meeting at the top. The overhang & soffit will be made up of a 7 piece assembly consisting of crown molding and flat stock. Lastly the roof will be a standing seam copper design. Its not as simple as one may think. 😎
