When bullies are protected and even praised, and the down-trodden remain meek, that is the time when tyranny grows. Let us not forget that it was the lack of voices of righteousness and the silent masses that had enable Hitler to grow to be a mass-killing dictator. Malaysia has clearly entered a dangerous period under a leadership that is void of righteousness. Before we realize it, the happy country envisioned by our beloved nation-founder Tunku may have turned into a nightmare of sectarian conflicts. In this regard, I congratulate the journalists of Malaysiakini for coming up with this article to jerk us into facing the ugly realities confronting us. It may be a small voice, but it certainly helps to buck the trend. Let’s hope more would take up the cudgel.
