When dealing with such a personal subject, is it hard to make executive decisions in the editing room? Do you want to tell your sister’s whole story? Petra Costa: Yes. It is very hard. And that’s why it took so long — three years — to make this film. (...) I had this impulse of capturing my sister’s history in totality.
