When developers build new houses, they are usually willing to help - TopicsExpress

When developers build new houses, they are usually willing to help the community financially, and to use their leverage in other ways, in order to gain goodwill - and the time to negotiate such help is now. Once the development has been approved, its too late. So it might be worth thinking about what we could ask for? For instance, many of the buses to Nunney were cancelled recently, and there are now none at all on a Sunday - Barratts could negotiate with the bus providers to restore additional services and subsidise them. They could also negotiate with BT to lay fibre to the village for high-speed broadband and again subsidise the work. Such contributions would raise the value of the houses they are building, so would probably constitute a good investment on their part. Other such contributions could be a defibrillator and public toilets. What should we be asking for?
