When doing genealogical research, we know it can be difficult to find death records for Arkansas ancestors, especially from the 19th and early 20th centuries. The In Remembrance project on the Arkansas History Commissions website seeks to gather names and death dates from early Arkansas newspapers, cemetery listings, mortality schedules, and other resources within our vast holdings, in order to bridge the gap in information, before official Death Certificates were kept. In just the past two months, weve added 45,000 new names to the project, so make sure to check it out!
