When everything seems a little crazy - Go for a ride. I walked out and put the bareback pad on Wiley Woo, and went back to the truck climbed up, put on my helmet and called him over. He thought about it a minute and then left eating his peanut hay to come over to me. What a sweetheart! I put the lead line around his neck and tied it (do you call that riding at liberty?) It was a loose loop of line. anyway, off we went, no halter, no bridle, just us. In three steps I asked for a whoa, w my seat only and he did, he completely stopped immediately! and then off we went, we did some walk and whoa practice. I thought Whoa, and he Whoaed! each time!!! I have only tried this once before w him about a year ago. He just wondered around where he wanted. This was such a huge improvement, w no practice at all really. He was such a good boy, I leaned down and gave him a big hug, got off and gave him a kiss. and I had a secret peppermint in my pocket. I asked him for a bow and he got his peppermint. 5 minutes can change your whole outlook on things. So thankful for OTTBs... I dont know why I get so overly excited about all of these little tiny things. But I do...
