When famous auther Mrs Gaskell bought this house in the first half of the nineteenth century on plymouth grove manchester, she thought it far enough out of the city to feel country like. She kept pigs for meat and chickens for egg and grew her own fruit and veg, she loved her home calling it a stunner and everyone came from Charles dickens to Harriet Beecher Stowe to George elliot visited her here. It was likely to hace been built by Richard lane whose Victoria park gated community it is near, the area has changed beyond recognition and is now in the heart of the inner city.
