When i left school i wanted to be 1 of 3 things , an artist , a footballer , a Dj .. I wasnt particularly good at lessons i found school a bit of a bore tbh , having said that i had some of the best laughs there .. I loved my art (drawing) n stuff that werent meant to be , football i had trials for Birmingham City with my bro , but at the time i was 1 of these kids that wanted to knock about with my pals and didnt take it serious .. Dj-ing was something thats been with me since day dot .. My dad was a Disco Dj and me n my bro always went with him to gigs .. When i got the opportunity to play a few 7 records at 1 of his gigs at the age of 9 , yes 9 lol my ol fella spotted a couple of pals and said heres the nxt few tunes , put them on 1 after the other .. From that point on i was hooked .. I could barely see over the disco deck ( for those that know ) lol .. When my dad come back i was gutted he took over .. That feeling will never leave me even though i was spinning motown & early reggae .. When i was 13 he (my dad ) bought me n my bro our first decks .. A Titan double deck console , no pitch no slipmatts & built in amp .. At that time i was playing heavy metal / rock / pop any thing i could get my hands on .. There was a local second hand shop that sold records for 15p each .. I bought anything at the time & couldnt wait to get home and play them . I still have those tunes today .. They are kack lol but they mean something to me .. Not long after i met Darren Mish Mash Dee and around the same time we discovered pirate radio , Starlight fm to be precise .. We struck up a friendship through music .. From there we got the rave bug .. Me waggin school ( sorry mom l) in pure records listening to the freshest underground music hitting the streets .. When i say underground i mean hardly heard , only in certain circles .. We felt we were apart of something it was ore inspiring .. Yes music did that for us .. From there we saved/did odd jobs and allsorts just to buy tunes .. We built up a great collection between us often having mini raves in my bedroom with friends round whilst mom n dad were out (again sorry mom n dad lol ) from there and at the age of 15 (1990 ) i decided i needed to get to 1 of these raves , id also collected flyers at the time , Moseley dance centre was my first rave , having blagged my parents i was staying at my cousins n vica versa we went .. We stood outside kacking ourselves for about n hour contemplating wether we would get in .. Then we though fek it if we dont well go home .. In a nutshell we tried we got in and boom my life changed , I lived to rave I yearned to to be that bloke spinning those tunes .. After loads of practice , i decided along with Darren we would put our first night on in our local pub .. They were great nights in there own right , asking other local djs to come and play some tunes .. That didnt last long as the pub didnt like our music ( understandably ) lol .. From there me n daz through contacts got our residencys at a club .. Years of experimenting with music and failing promotions things wernt looking to good BUT the music had us by the balls and wether 2 people or a 100 people turned up we dam well enjoyed ourselves .. Years of raving and buying/playing tunes led to us making new friends and connections and after tons and tons of effort we ( me n darren ) finally started to get the breaks .. The past 10 or so years weve played alongside some of the scenes biggest artists and i am part of a jungle crew called Jungle Citizenz .. Having said that , despite our fallouts it saddens me to here darren is knocking it on the head .. Understandably so i must admit .. He has a wonderful wife to look after .. Good luck with your future bro .. We are and will be brothers other mothers for life despite what other may think .. So Im here If needs be .. My head is in the clouds with the line ups i find myself on nower days .. So when i hear other artists slagging other artists for getting on good gigs and saying oh theyve kissed arse well i will say this .. Stop ya negative bullshit pull your own big head out of your own pretentious arse and put the work in .. I didnt walk on to this scene and beg a set i worked dam hard for it .. 13 i started & 38 im only just reaping the rewards .. Im more determined than ever and Jungle Citizenz are going from strength to strength because we are genuine lads with music on our mind .. 1 love junglists and big respect to Darren we were there from the beginning bud .. #fekthefakerswearereal Ps .. Sorry if i bored you with that status looool ..
