When i used to work at the record stores i learnt a lot about people and their varying tastes in music. My mantra was simple as a record buying customer. I didnt ask for whats HOT. I was looking for something different , something people missed. What i provide as a DJ is context ,a space for the music to be heard in a particular way bent to my personal narrative. Too many DJs to concerned with keeping up with the Joneses , whereas they should be pushing their own stories. Its the ones who have a distinct style or story telling ability that push ahead. However we also have a new generation of producers cum DJs who are absolutely useless on a dance floor. They need to still learn the craft of DJing which is a completely different discipline. HOT BEATS dont make a HOT DJ... #TipForTheDay
